THE STORY OF GIZELLA
"Reflecting on one of my most vivid childhood memories, I think about the experience of living in and travelling to seven countries that greatly inspired my creativity and nostalgia. The intricate temples in Bangkok, with their gilded surfaces glimmering in the sun, deeply influenced my design aesthetic. Additionally, the vibrant hues of the Filipino jeepneys and Sorbetes carts helped shape my bold use of colour. I was also inspired by the warm, delicious variety of street food and drinks in Singapore's hawker centres and all the countries I've visited, among other experiences."

We inspire customers to rethink the possibilities of these items, transforming them into unique pieces for new projects or personal décor.
At GIZELLA, most of my products can be repurposed after initial use. They are perfect for other creative projects, can be used as home décor and why not, given as unique gifts to someone special?

WHAT IS Gizella ?
GIZELLA was founded in 2015 and officially launched in 2021 by its owner and founder, Gizella Calingo, who specialises in original handmade and hand-sculpted set designs, props, décor, makeup and costumes.
Gizella Calingo is a filmmaker, self-taught artist, and designer who has developed her skills independently. She combines traditional handcraftsmanship with modern techniques, technologies, and machines in art and design, including 3D Sculpting, 3D Printing and Laser Cutting.
GIZELLA collections are inspired by retro, Vintage, Contemporary, maximalist, modernism, surrealism and retro-futurism art, featuring sculptural, geometric, playful, bright and funky designs, created by hand and transforming 2D designs into 3D products. Her traditional methods include clay sculpting, moulding, casting and hand-painting.

Hello and welcome! I'm Gizella Calingo, an Australian-Filipino owner and founder of GIZELLA, an exciting online store based in the vibrant city of Sydney, Australia. As a passionate filmmaker, designer, and writer (BuzzFeed, SBS Radio Filipino, WIX and more), my experience extends to film and art direction, set and production design, prop making, installation art, furniture making, 3D illustrations and animations, and website design (I created and designed this 80s and 90s nostalgia-inspired website).
My creative journey explores projects, including interactive games, interactive installation art, 3D digital and tech art, filters and more. I am also the owner and founder of Gizella Films @gizellafilms, where we produced captivating film projects, and Gizella's Life @gizellalife, which features my life and adventures from past to present.
I am entirely self-taught and have developed my skills independently. My artistic vision continuously explores different avenues to bring stories to life through visuals and design. As an artist deeply inspired by the nostalgia designs and styles of the 1930s to the early 2000s as well as modern influences, I create distinctive pieces that reflect my skills and commitment to creative exploration and unique artistic expression. The GIZELLA collections are visually unique and realistic, drawing inspiration from both modern and traditional designs. GIZELLA is more than just an online store, it is a unique space where creativity intersects with culture through my original handmade art collections, crafted with innovative methods that inspire curiosity about the stories behind each piece.
"As an Australian-Filipina who grew up in Singapore and Thailand since I was 4 years old. I have had the privilege of living and travelling in seven different countries 🌍, including The Philippines 🇵🇭, Hong Kong 🇭🇰, Singapore 🇸🇬, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Thailand 🇹🇭, Cambodia 🇰🇭, and Australia 🇦🇺. One pivotal moment that influenced my design aesthetic occurred in these countries, where I learned about the traditional artwork, decorative texture and patterns, and vibrant, bold to neutral colours. These experiences inspired me to incorporate diverse cultural stories from my travels and designs into my collections."
